- 1/4 cup milk
For the Banana Pudding Layer:
- 1 (5.1 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipped topping
For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup crushed vanilla wafers
- 1/4 cup banana slices (optional)
- 2 tbsp caramel sauce or honey (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cake Batter:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the honey bun cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, mashed bananas, vanilla extract, sour cream, and milk.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
- Make the Banana Pudding Layer:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix, milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped topping to add creaminess.
- Spread the banana pudding mixture evenly over the cooled cake.
- Add the Topping:
- Sprinkle the crushed vanilla wafers on top of the pudding layer.
- Optionally, garnish with banana slices and drizzle with caramel sauce or honey for extra sweetness.
- Chill and Serve:
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set.
