
Creamy Custard Puff Pastry Recipe

Ingredients:
For the Pastry:
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
For the Custard Filling:
- 2 cups (480ml) whole milk
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions:
- Prepare the Custard:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, sugar, and cornstarch.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks. Slowly add some warm milk mixture to the yolks while whisking (to temper).
- Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and butter. Let it cool, then refrigerate.
- Bake the Puff Pastry:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares or circles. Place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed. Let cool.
- Assemble the Pastries:
- Slice the puff pastries in half.
- Fill each with custard cream using a spoon or piping bag.
- Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate (optional).
